It is always a good idea to check your garden soil for its type and pH, which helps you choose the appropriate plants for your garden. You can get the pH tester from local garden centers. You don’t need to get the expensive one, the several-dollar tester with color coded charts will do just fine. If your garden soil is too clay to too sandy, you could improve it by digging in compost or  mulching with leafmold.
