Lilies are great flower to put in front of the house and near the door. You can start to plant them as early as January through spring. Lilies are very hardy so putting them in pots will give them a good start. To pot them, you can start with a deep container and cover the holes with gravel, add a layer of potting mix, add a layer of grid over the mix and then lay the lily bulbs on their sides on top. Next is to cover the bulbs and fill the container with potting mix until 2 inch below the rim. And do remember watering the container every 2 or 3 days.
